I’m so grateful that the message to #SpendLoveNotMoney this holiday season resonated with so many people. Thank you to everyone who shared my video and my post If you missed it, check out the video below for more about the #SpendLoveNotMoney campaign and why I’m dedicating my December blog posts to spending less and giving more.
So today is a little special. Today I’m asking for you to take action with your money. I still don’t want you to spend it, but I’m hoping you’ll be willing to use it to do some good.
December 3rd, the first Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, is also known as #GivingTuesday. It’s a chance for folks to pause during the chaos of holiday shopping and give back, either to an organization or charity they care about or to someone in need.
And this #GivingTuesday, a few of us in the blogging community wanted to band together and help out one particular boy in need.
Christian has cerebral palsy and needs your help.
Meet Christian Hannah. He’s 14-years-old and was born with cerebral palsy. Even from his picture you can tell he’s a happy, lively boy. But he’s limited by his wheelchair, and his family is limited by where they can take him in the world. His family and his mother – who changes his diapers, spoon feeds him and takes care of his every need – are looking for the one thing that would make their lives easier: a wheelchair van.
A wheelchair van would literally transform their everyday lives. And with that kind of mobility, Christian can enjoy more of life beyond his home.
Christian’s family is using GiveForward to raise money and looking for public donations to reach their goal of $38,000 to buy van. GiveForward helps people raise money for those in need (it’s like the KickStarter of medical causes).
It only took a few minutes to donate to Christian’s cause on GiveForward. And together, it only takes a few dollars to make a big difference.
Will you take a moment this #GivingTuesday to support a cause you care about?
If you want to support Christian and his family’s quest for a wheelchair van, click here to visit his family’s fundraising webpage. Even if you decide not to contribute to Christian’s cause, take a moment to think of an organization (or even a person) who means a lot to you and consider giving back today.
Happy #GivingTuesday – and keep spreading the love!
